Forced Vacation

Will Auto Insurance Companies Reimburse You for Lost Wages?

You didn't ask for this. You didn't want it. You didn't deserve it. So why on earth are you sitting in a hospital room watching the doc cleaning the road rash out of your palms? How are you going to get to work on Monday? And what are you going to do if you can't?

Ever consider asking your auto insurance?

Nobody rolls out of bed in the morning and thinks, "Hm, today's a good day to have a car accident." It just doesn't work like that. You know it. I know it. And the auto insurance industry knows it. You also didn't ask for a forced vacation courtesy of somebody else's crazy driving, but you certainly got that. The question is, what are you going to do about it?

If you live in a no-fault state, that's a no-brainer. All you have to do is pick up the phone and talk to the nice man or woman that's in charge of filing auto insurance claims. No-fault auto insurance policies come equipped with personal injury protection, which in turn comes equipped with a clause to help you get back a certain percentage of your wages after you've been in an accident. Even if you were the one that caused it!

If you didn't cause it you can also have your guy call their guy and get the rest of your lost wages (above and beyond what your auto insurance company will take care of) from the other driver. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is why you have to have liability auto insurance even when you live in a no-fault state! Even if you took sick leave you're still entitled to reimbursement for some of your lost wages. It's all about earning potential, and let's face it…there are better things you could be doing with those sick days!

if you don't live in a no-fault state you can still get your lost wages back from the other auto insurance company. That includes overtime, bonuses, etc., in case you were interested! What you're going to need here is verification from your employer that you're missing out and verification from your doctor that you're not doing it just because you wanted a day off!

Remember, auto insurance companies expect to reimburse lost wages even if you do have some kind of supplemental income coming in, whether that's disability, sick pay, or whatever. You shouldn't lose a penny because of somebody else's carelessness. Auto insurance is there to make sure you don't have to.

My fiance (he's in the national guard) heard about "AFVC", but I am concerned that if I make reservations with them there will be hidden fees or some kind of mix up.

Does anyone know where to go to book a military vacation? (Answers: 5) (Comments: 0)
I'm trying to find a hotel or resort in Hawaii i can book in December for my husband's R&R. But I dont know where to go to book it. I was hoping to go through some military travel company or something but not sure who. I've already looked into using the Armed Forced Vacation Club but they only let you book 10 days in advance. Any help would be great.
